The Askew Sisters + Dom Prag at Harwell Village Hall

Acclaimed folk duo, the Askew Sisters rework and reinterpret songs and balladry, creating breath-taking arrangements, which allow words that are hundreds of years old to resonate profoundly with contemporary audiences. They are both skilled multi-instrumentalists and expert players of dance music, using fiddles, melodeons, concertina and cello. Praise for their album ‘In the Air or the Earth’: "Inspired arrangements of traditional music, striking versions of tricky ballads – this is traditional folk in a fine, fresh form." [The Telegraph] "An album of singular and iconic beauty."[ FolkWords]

Dom Prag is an up and coming singer-songwriter from Southampton. He has appeared at folk clubs from Teeside to Devon and everywhere in between. His style mixes traditional folk with classical guitar to create a complex, raw sound. His songs are stories, folk tales, love letters - joyous, hopeful and heart-breaking in equal measures. “We were lucky enough to have Dom open up a show for Chris and I, and we were both really impressed with him. Great playing, singing and writing and a lovely stage presence. Watch out for Dom, his star is definitely on the rise.” -Julie Matthews (While and Matthews/Daphne’s Flight)
